Monday kicked off with Thane Ringler (Hutchinson, KS) leading the leaderboard with a day low 69, leading The Master’s College to a first place 289 first round finish.  Following Ringler’s stellar play was Michael Reit (Denver, CO) who made par (72).  Nolan Sand (Hoquiam, WA) and Andrew Bergoon (Mobile, AL) each shot two-over par 74, while John Lawson (Mobile, AL) trailed with an eight-over par 80.

Joshua Oakes (Murrieta, CA) and Mattew Kim (Yorba Linda, CA) were two of three participants in the individual round.  Oakes notched a first round score of 10-over par 82, while Kim posted a 15-over par 87.

Round two took the Mustangs out of first place contention as the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran posted a 291 finish, while TMC trailed 10 strokes behind at 301.  Reit posted a 74, while Ringler and Sand each shot a 76.  Bergoon notched a 78, while Lawson improved with a three-over par 75.

Individual play continued with Oakes shooting a 12-over par 84, while Kim marked a 10-over par 82.

Ringler currently sits tied for fourth (145), while Reit is tied for seventh at 146. Collectively, TMC tallied a team score of 590, and notched 36 birdies, with Ringler and Sand each posting nine.  Cal Lutheran leads with a score of 581.

“We played solid in the morning and struggled in the afternoon,” said Mustang coach Jason Semelsberger.  “Our play on the back nine really hurt us today and hopefully, we can shore that up tomorrow.  Cal Lutheran played very solid today and we have our work cut out for us to catch them tomorrow.”

Looking to regain first place in the final round of the TMC Spring Invite, the Mustangs will take to the links tomorrow in a 7:30 AM tee time.
