A little bit of rain couldn’t put out the light in Old Town Newhall Thursday night.
Light Slam was a first-of-its-kind art show in Santa Clarita, and served as a kick-off event for a monthly art event, Art Slam, on Main Street and Lyons in Old Town Newhall.
The Old Town Newhall Library, along with several businesses on Main Street, kept their doors open late Thursday to host art displays and offer a dry place for folks to stop in and warm up.
Art Slam will feature a different theme each first Thursday of the month through October, said Phil Lantis, Santa Clarita Arts & Events administrator.
Green Slam is on the books for April. Eco-friendly art made from recycled materials will be showcased, along with other hands-on activities and entertainment that will provide fun for the entire family.
Weather permitting, the event will take place outdoors on Main Street and Lyons in Newhall on April 4 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
