Thane Ringler (Hutchinson, KS) recently competed in the inaugural 2012 Patriot All-America Invitational held at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz., and finished tied for 46th out of a field of 84 competitors.
The five-day event, which ran from December 27-31, featured PING All-Americans from the 2011-2012 season in NCAA Divisions I, II and III. All-Americans from the NAIA, NJCAA and AJGA also competed in the invitation-only event.
Ringler shot 15 over 225, and notched 30 Pars, 14 Bogeys, seven Birdies and, one Double Bogey along the way. Ringler’s play was highlighted by a disappointing six over 76 on Sunday, a solid 72 on Monday, and a poor 77 on Tuesday.
Assessing Ringler’s performance, Mustang coach Jason Semelsberger stated, “Things didn’t go the way he [Thane] wanted, but we’re still very proud of him.”
The Golf Coaches Association of America awarded Ringler a spot in the invitational in the wake of his stellar 2011-12 campaign, in which he earned first team honors on the 2012 NAIA Men’s Golf All-American list.
