Victim Teofilo “JoJo” Navales of Castaic
The suspected assailant in the killing of a Castaic man and three other people outside of a Northridge apartment complex in December was charged this week with four counts of murder and various weapons charges.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, 31-year-old Ka Pasasouk has been in custody in Las Vegas since his Dec. 3 arrest and will be arraigned Jan. 25 in San Fernando Superior Court.
Pasasouk is accused of the execution-style slaying of Teofilo “JoJo” Navales, 49, of Ridge Top Lane in Castaic, and three other people: Robert Calabia, 34, of Los Angeles; Amanda Ghossein, 24, of Monterey Park; and Jennifer Kim, 26, of Montebello. Navales left behind a wife and three daughters.
The four were found face-down outside of a multi-family home in the 17400 block of Devonshire Street on Dec. 2 after witnesses reported hearing gunfire at 4:25 a.m.
In addition to the murder charges with special-circumstances enhancements because they involved multiple homicides, Pasasouk faces charges of one count of attempted murder, five counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon with five priors.
Pasasouk and three suspected accomplices – Howard Alcantara, 30, of Glendale, and Donna Rabulan, 30, and Christina Neal, 31, both of Los Angeles – were arrested without incident after authorities tracked them to the Silverton Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Alcantara, Rabulan and Neal were booked on suspicion of robbery and-or aiding and abetting a felon.
“Pasasouk is the only one charged with gunning down all four victims,” according to the District Attorney’s office.
Pasasouk had been released from state prison in January 2012 and classified as a “low-level, non-violent felon.”
Classifications for purposes of determining parole eligibility do not take prior convictions into consideration – a point the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will address at its meeting next week.
