Roundup: Trinity Beats SCCS, 64-40

trinityknightslogoThe Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team beat Santa Clarita Christian, 64-40, in a Heritage League game.

Spencer Klehn scored 25 points and Ryan Brooks recorded a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds for Trinity, which won its second league game of the season.

Santa Clarita Christian’s Phillip Webb scored 20 points and had 16 rebounds. The Cardinals are 0-2 in the Heritage League.

In college basketball, the Golden State Athletic Conference men’s and women’s championship games will be broadcast on Fox College Sports and Prime Ticket.

The Master’s College is in the Golden State Athletic Conference. This is the first time NAIA conference championship games will be televised on regional and national television networks.

In baseball, six Dodgers will be playing in the World Baseball Classic. Adrian Gonzalez and Luis Cruz will play for Mexico. Hanley Ramirez is on the Dominic Republic team. Ronald Belisario will pitch for Venezuela. Nick Punto is on Italy’s roster and Paco Rodriguez is in the bullpen for Spain.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves, 90-77, and won their third game in a row.

Jamal Crawford scored 22 points and Blake Griffin added 20 for the Clippers. Point guard Chris Paul missed his third straight game with a sore knee cap.

The Lakers lost to the visiting Miami Heat, 99-90, and dropped to 17-21 on the season.

Dwight Howard scored 13 points and had 16 rebounds for the Lakers. But LeBron James led all scorers with 39 points and added seven rebounds and eight assists.

Two Lakers and two Clippers were voted as starters for the Western Conference All-Star team. Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard were selected from the Lakers. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will represent the Clippers.

Bryant, who received the most votes, will be playing in an NBA record 15th consecutive All-Star game.
