Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Deputies, along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, responded to the scene of a traffic collision Monday, Jan. 7, at approximately 8:45 a.m.
A vehicle turning westbound onto Via Princessa from Oak Ridge Drive struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was crossing Via Princessa heading south from the north side of the street.
The pedestrian, a 59 year-old male, was transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle was also taken to a local area hospital to provide a blood sample, although drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time.
The incident is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Station Traffic Office. Anyone witnessing the incident is asked to contact Detective Travis Kelly (661) 255-1121.
