Mark your calendar: The Santa Clarita Valley Education Foundation will sponsor the annual Principal for a Day event on Friday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Business partners, community leaders and individuals are invited to find out first-hand what it’s like to run a public school by being paired with a school administrator and becoming the principal for a day. Participants learn about the multiple roles school managers play.
Now in its 21st year and designed to foster a better understanding of the challenges facing educators, the program has proved to be a valuable link among local educators, business leaders and the community. All school and district administrators in the Santa Clarita Valley participate.
One of last year’s participants noted: “I had no idea what a principal did. This experience really opened my eyes to all the responsibilities they have.”
Participants spend the morning with their administrator and are then invited to a luncheon where all administrators and partners attend. At the luncheon, a question-and-answer session is held with all local school superintendents, giving a better understanding of the successes and challenges in our schools valley-wide.
