Renowned anti-bullying speaker James Gavsie will speak Sunday, Feb. 17, at noon at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market Street in Newhall.
Gavsie, a mixed martial arts instructor, has more than 20 years experience as an instructor and coach to people of all ages and life circumstances and discusses bullying and its effects, consequences and remedies. Attendance is free and open to the public and persons of all ages are welcome. The event will be hosted by the Unitarian Universalists of the SCV.
“Have you ever heard about a bullying incident from your child or been bullied yourself in a work or other relationship?” asked Reverend Stefani Etzbach-Dale, minister of the UUSCV church. “Bullying is an uncomfortable but real fact and it happens too often. James speaks candidly about how to help us and our children navigate those situations safely and ethically,” she said. “We’re happy to help present this information in light of the violence that affects us in our schools and workplaces. Come learn with us how to respond when confronted with bullying behavior.”
Unitarian Universalism’s principles affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person and the need for us all to live and work together in peace.
