A multi-vehicle collision occurred Wednesday at 1:03 p.m. on The Old Road just south of Wedgewood Court in Castaic, involving two deputies in a sheriff’s patrol car, a 2003 Saturn 4-door sedan and a Suzuki motorcycle.
A report from the California Highway Patrol stated the motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with major injuries all other persons involved received only minor injuries.
According to the report, the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop when he collided into the 4-door sedan when it turned into a private road. The deputies, attempting to avoid the collision, steered to the right, left the roadway and collided with a chain link fence prior to coming to rest in a field.
Streets reopened at 2:42 p.m., CHP officials said.
