COC Trustees to Pick Wilk's Successor Monday

COC_logoThe Santa Clarita Community College District (COC) Board of Trustees will interview candidates Monday and likely select one of them to fill a board vacancy.

The vacancy was created when Scott Wilk was elected to the state Assembly in November. He had been reelected to a four-year term on the COC board in November 2011.

The person picked to succeed Wilk won’t serve out the remaining three years of Wilk’s term. Instead, the appointee will serve for about 11 months until November 2013, when he or she would have to run for re-election. Then he or she would have to run again in 2015, at which time Wilk’s seat would be back on its regular four-year cycle.

Thirteen people applied for the position and will be interviewed for 10 to 12 minutes each on Monday starting at 1:30 p.m. Then the board will discuss the results and potentially pick a winner.
