Roundup: Hart Basketball Tournament Opens Wednesday

harthighindianslogoThe Hart Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament begins today (Dec. 26) with four games including the host Indians against Burbank.

The tournament starts with Glendale vs. Heritage Christian at 3 this afternoon.

Reseda plays South Bakersfield, one of the top teams from the CIF Central Section.

Grant plays Channel Islands in the other first round game.

The Canyon, Saugus and Valencia boys basketball teams are also starting tournament action today.

Canyon is entered in the Ventura Tournament. Saugus is in the San Gabriel Tournament. Valencia begins play in the Chaminade Christmas Classic.

The Canyon and Valencia girls basketball teams are in the West Coast Holiday Festival Tournament.

The Hart girls are in the La Canada Tournament. The Saugus girls are entered in the Burroughs Tournament in Burbank.

In the NBA, the Lakers have a five-game winning streak after beating the visiting New York Knicks, 100-94, at Staples Center on Christmas Day.

Kobe Bryant scored 34 points and went over the 30-point mark for the ninth game in a row.

Metta World Peace scored 20 points off the bench.

The Lakers can make it six wins in a row against the Denver Nuggets tonight.

The Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns, 112-100, and won their 14th game in a row. The Clippers have the best record in the NBA at 22-6.

Jamal Crawford scored 22 points and Matt Barnes added 20 off the bench. The Clippers reserves thoroughly outplayed the Suns with a 64-48 advantage.
