Graffiti Compels Part of Valencia Mall to Self-Evacuate

westfieldvalenciatowncentersignSecurity guards at the Valencia Town Center are evacuating people from JC Penney and environs, according to reports from patrons Sunday at 5:45 p.m.

“Mall security taped all that area off and telling people to exit through the upper level near Orange Julius,” an eyewitness said.

Sgt. Brian Allen of the SCV Sheriff’s Station said someone left threatening graffiti that said something to the effect of, “You have 30 minutes left.” He said it is not known what time the vandalism occurred.

Sheriff deputies were en route to the mall to assess the situation. Allen said deputies don’t generally evacuate in such situations.

In this instance, the businesses and/or mall security decided to do so on their own.
