Folks who get their water from Waterworks District 37 in Acton will pay 2.8 percent more in the coming year if the Board of Supervisors approves a new rate plan Tuesday.
The typical customer who pays $63.24 per month now will pay $65.01 in the future.
In a report to the board from Public Works Director Gail Farber, the increase is needed to offset inflation and the higher cost of State Project water.
According to the report, inflation accounts for 0.5 percent of the rate hike.
In 2012, District 37 bought 29 percent of its water from its local state water wholesaler, the Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency (AVEK).
The other 71 percent was groundwater, pumped from District 37′s own three wells in the Acton area.
