Eagle Scout Overhauls Bocce Ball Court at LARC Ranch

eaglescoutlarcWhen Mitchell Hancock was looking for an Eagle Scout project to do, he quickly concluded that he wanted to choose something that would benefit LARC Ranch. After all, the 17-year-old knows many LARC residents through the Special Olympics organization.

“Mitchell is a Special Olympics athlete himself,” said his mother, Adrienne Carney. “He started doing swimming when he was 10 and now he does swimming and floor hockey. For his Eagle Scout project, he also wanted to do something that would help out Special Olympics.”

Since the bocce ball courts are used by Special Olympics athletes as well as other LARC residents, and the courts’ surfaces had seen better days, it made sense to put a new surface on the courts as part of his Eagle Scout project.
