Zone 5-Valencia had nineteen Part-1 Crimes reported during the past week. The criminal incidents included an aggravated assault, grand theft of autos, grand thefts from unlocked vehicles, vehicle burglary and shoplifting from local businesses.
An assault resulting in a child endangerment occurred on a football field on Tuesday evening. The suspect, a father of one of the players, was seen stumbling across the parking lot of the football field. When the suspect attempted to get in a vehicle with his children, he was confronted by a concerned parent and it was determined that the suspect had been drinking. An argument occurred resulting in a fight. The suspect was arrested and additionally charged with drunk in public. The children were not injured and were taken into protective custody.
There were two grand theft autos that occurred during the week in the morning hours. One vehicle was stolen from Fairview and McBean Parkway and the other was stolen from the 28000 block of Avenue Crocker. Both vehicles were stolen from parking locations and were recovered the next day. One of the vehicles was recovered in LAPD’s Newton Division damaged and stripped. The other vehicle was found intact and recovered two blocks away from where it was stolen.
Two grand thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred during the weekend between the hours of 9:30 pm and 8:00 am. Both vehicles were parked in the victim’s drive way in homes behind the Granary Square area. Items stolen were a laptop computer, lose change, a wallet and a briefcase containing miscellaneous items. The items stolen were left in plain view on the rear passenger seats of the victim’s vehicles. No suspect(s) have been identified at this time.
A vehicle burglary also occurred during the weekend in the morning hours between Arroyo Parkway and McBean Parkway. The victim parked his vehicle on the streets in front of his residence. It appeared the suspect(s) entered the vehicle by punching the key hole of the driver side door. Items stolen were an X-Box, a stereo unit and speaker boxes, all which were located in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
Do not become a victim! Please do not leave valuables unattended or leave items visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. If possible, park in well-lit areas.
