[Sen. Steve Knight] – One of the great opportunities my office has is the ability to provide internships for high school and recent college graduates. Currently, my Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita offices are accepting applications for the Winter/Spring internship term.
This is an excellent chance for current high school students, college students, or recent college graduates to get involved in the legislative process, develop job skills, and get a head-start on their career. In my office, interns have the opportunity to work in a professional environment, build a resume, and network with elected officials and business leaders.
My district office is customer service oriented, and works to respond quickly to the needs of all the 21st Senate District’s constituents. In addition, the district office actively participates in community events and works hard to establish solid relationships with local business and community leaders. Interns in either district office will be closely involved in the implementation of programs that accomplish both of these important goals.
As an intern, you will perform a wide variety of tasks geared toward assisting myself and my staff in serving Senate District 21. Examples of tasks include constituent correspondence, research projects, aiding in district office programs, maintaining and operating databases, internet searches, working with government agencies, public appearances, public speaking, and performing general office duties.
There are a limited number of internships for each office, thus an interview process will begin once the application has been received. This interview also gives those who haven’t gone through an interview before the experience of going through the process.
Please go herefor the internship application. Should you have any questions regarding an internship, please contact Sarah Tyndall at 661-286-1471 or sarah.tyndall@sen.ca.gov and she will be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns.
Steve Knight represents about half of the Santa Clarita Valley in the state Senate.
