On Tuesday, Oct. 8, Santa Clarita Valley Station deputies responded to the 19500 block of Delight Street in Canyon Country. When they arrived, a male suspect ran away from the deputies. The male eluded deputies after a short foot pursuit and containment. Investigation revealed that the male was at the location to kidnap his son from his estranged wife and family. The male was identified as David Maryniak, a 36 year old male from Castaic.
Deputies recovered several items that led them to believe that the suspect was in fact attempting to kidnap his child. The response of the deputies thwarted the kidnapping attempt. The investigation was turned over to Santa Clarita Valley Station Detectives who started an immediate manhunt for the suspect.
