The board of directors of the Santa Clarita Valley Little League (aka the Castaic-SCV Little League) has voted to suspend the 2014 season, organization President Tom Frohling announced Monday.
“We hope that with restructuring, rebranding, and revitalization we can ‘play ball’ for a Fall 2014 Season,” Frohling stated.
The Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) Little League was established in 1997. From the outset, SCV Little League was well attended with more than 200 players participating in the program. In more recent years, however, the League’s numbers have dwindled; only 65 players participated in the 2013 season. “We hope to attract new players and more volunteers during our hiatus,” said Frohling.
While the 2014 season is suspended, the SCV League Board of Directors will increase the number of fields where the League competes. By working with the Santa Clarita and Castaic school districts as well as the Los Angeles County Supervisors this will help increase the number of locations that young people can play baseball. “This is really a great opportunity for the Board and the League’s volunteers to focus our efforts on restructuring the League,” explained Frohling.
The SCV Little League’s District includes Stevenson Ranch, Newhall, Saugus, Castaic, and West Ranch. For information regarding registering players or volunteering, please contact Tom Frohling at 213-924-4741.
