I am happy to report that crime is down in the Saugus area this week. The first was an assault with a deadly weapon which occurred in the 21600 block of Rose Lee Court on Friday, 02/01/2013. The assault was a result of a family dispute. The suspect was arrested without incident.

There were two vehicles reported stolen over the week in the Saugus area. The first incident occurred in the 25600 block of Springbrook Avenue between Thursday, 01/24/2013, and Friday, 01/25/2013. The victim’s trailer was stolen from the storage yard at the location. Detectives are looking for possible witnesses to the incident.

The second stolen vehicle occurred in the 21900 block of Grovepark Drive on Saturday, 02/02/2013. An acquaintance of the victim took the vehicle without her consent. The vehicle was located the following day a short distance from the victim’s residence.

There was a theft from an unlocked vehicle in the 29100 block of Valley Oak Place on Saturday night, 01/26/2013 through Sunday morning, 01/27/2013. The victim discovered that person(s) unknown entered his unlocked vehicle and stole miscellaneous personal items. There were no other thefts reported in the area.

There were numerous arrests made over the week in Saugus which resulted in the decrease in crime. There was one arrest which stands out above the rest. Deputies responded to a call of a person brandishing a knife. When deputies arrived they were informed that the suspect had already fled the location. Deputies later located the suspect nearby. The suspect was on parole under the AB-109 prison realignment. Once contacted, the suspect was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon. Deputies also had reasonable cause to believe that he was in possession of stolen property. After a thorough investigation the suspect was arrested for criminal threats, possession of an illegal weapon, and reasonable cause receiving stolen property.
