A pedestrian suffered head trauma Friday night when struck by two or three cars on southbound Interstate 5, just north of Highway 126.
No identifying characteristics (age, gender) of the injured person have been released, nor is it known what he or she was doing on the freeway – although at least one witness told California Highway Patrol officers that the pedestrian was seen running across freeway lanes toward the center divider.
The incident was reported to the CHP at 9:26 p.m.
At least three cars were stopped in the center divider and either two or three of them hit the pedestrian, one with a side-view mirror.
The pedestrian was alive and breathing when emergency responders arrived and was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia with major head injuries.
The scene was cleared at 10:14 p.m.
