The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that 315 men’s soccer student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Two juniors and a pair of seniors represented the Mustangs: Darren Lightfoot (Colorado Springs, CO), Kenny Gardner (Palmdale, CA), Peter Martin (Dayton, OR), and Andrew Bussell (Bakersfield, CA).
To be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director for this honor, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status.
The men’s soccer team finished the 2012 campaign with an 8-10-1 record and advanced to the GSAC Tournament where they were knocked out in the first round by Biola.
