Sunday: Mud Run in Acton to Raise Money for Typhoon Relief

paintballusaRunners will dash through the mud on Sunday to raise funds to help survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Currently, the death toll from the disaster stands at more than 3,000. Tens of thousands are injured and even more are displaced and in desperate need of food and clean water.

Temple Beth Ami in Santa Clarita is hosting a Mud Run at Paintball USA in Acton on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Multiple races will be held, and runners can compete in heats with their age group (all ages are welcome).  “We wanted to find a way to help the people of the Philippines,” said Rabbi Mark Blazer, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Ami. “Sunday’s Mud Run provides an opportunity for people across the Los Angeles area to make a difference.”

templebethamilogoMud Run coordinators have been in close contact with the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles to help assess the needs of survivors. Food and water are priorities, so all proceeds from Sunday’s event will be used to help relief groups provide these much-needed staples. “The Mud Run is open to the public and everyone is invited to join in the relief effort,” Blazer said.

Paintball USA is located at 3840 Crown Valley Road, Acton.
