On the eve of its first-round game in the GSAC Tournament, The Master’s College men’s soccer team has landed three of its players on the GSAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team presented by Under Armour.
Representing the Mustangs are freshman midfielder Zach Klindworth (Valencia, CA), junior midfielder Brett Croft (Hesperia, CA), and senior midfielder Jorge Serrano (Sylmar, CA).
Klindworth has had a terrific start to his college career, scoring 24 points on eight goals and eight assists to lead the Mustangs in scoring while placing fourth in the GSAC.
He has teamed with Serrano, who returned from a redshirt season in 2012, to establish a formidable tandem. Tying Klindworth with a team-high eight goals and assisting on three others, Serrano earned his second all-conference nod (2011) after scoring 19 points.
Croft has played a solid midfield, keeping opponents from intruding down the field while getting the ball to teammates at the other end. He has scored three points on a goal and one assist.
Mustang coach Jim Rickard is counting on this trio and his other players to be ready for their tourney opener at San Diego Christian (6-2-2 GSAC, 13-3-2 overall) on Wednesday. After going 3-7 in GSAC play (4-11-1 overall), the Mustangs are seeded sixth while the Hawks enter the match as the conference’s No. 3 seed.
Kickoff is set for 2:00pm in El Cajon.
