A proactive deputy assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was on routine patrol Wednesday when he spotted a reported stolen vehicle from Modesto.
The deputy noticed the stolen vehicle, a white Ford Mustang, appeared to be traveling with two other vehicles that were also registered out of the Modesto area. Due to the fact the three vehicles appeared to all be traveling together and could pose significant risk to deputies and the public, the deputy requested assistance and conducted a pre-stop coordination. Deputies from the LASD Parks Bureau and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with officers from the California Highway Patrol, responded to assist in the traffic stops on all three vehicles.
At no time was a pursuit initiated of any of the vehicles, as all three of them yielded without incident in the area of Lake Hughes Road and The Old Road in the unincorporated area of Castaic.
Deputies arrested the driver of the Ford Mustang, Angelino John, a 19 year-old male from Modesto, along with a passenger, a 15 year-old female, also of Modesto, on vehicle theft charges. The driver of the second vehicle, Vinny Diaz, a 21 year-old male from Modesto, and the brother of Angelino John, was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Both vehicles were towed and stored pending further investigation. The third vehicle and its occupants, who were relatives to the occupants in the other vehicles, were released at the scene without charges.
This investigation ongoing, and there is no further information available at this time.
