The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Special Enforcement Team, which is focused on eradicating gang-related activity in the Santa Clarita Valley, seized eight baggies of methamphetamine possibly packaged for resale, according to sheriff’s officials.
Deputies were conducting a patrol check at the request of a property owner near the 24100 block of Pine Street in Newhall.
While investigating the area, deputies contacted Daniel Ramirez, 37, of Newhall, on Monday at about 8:45 p.m.
Their investigation led to the discovery of eight bindles of meth, and the subsequent arrest of Ramirez. The street value of the drugs was less than $1,000.
Deputies considered this a substantial arrest due to the fact Ramirez has been known to associate with local gang members.
Deputies with the Special Enforcement Team did not detail the gang with which Ramirez is associated.
This incident is still under investigation as to the relationship between the local gang and this measurable amount of narcotics.
Ramirez was arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for possession of a controlled substance for sale, and for an outstanding arrest warrant.
