This week Newhall had 10 reported Part-1 crimes. Newhall saw two robberies, one grand theft, four vehicle burglaries, one petty theft, one commercial burglary, and one aggravated assault.

On Monday, 02/04/2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m., license plate registration tabs were reported stolen from the 23700 block of Lyons Avenue. The vehicle registration and the 2014 tabs were reported stolen from the glove box of the vehicle. The victim last saw the registration and tabs when she brought her vehicle to the car wash (ref -01780)

On Tuesday, 02/05/2013 at approximately 11:20 p.m. a vehicle burglary was reported. The victim approached three male suspects who were breaking into his car. Some of the suspects began to punch and assault the victim. The three males then ran off in different directions. One suspect was later arrested for robbery and burglary. The other two males are still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing (ref -01750). This incident occurred in the 20900 block of Costa Brava.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 24600 block of Walnut Street on Friday, 02/08/2013. This crime is alleged to have taken place between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. A glass window was smashed and a wallet was stolen from the vehicle (ref -01886).

Over the weekend, numerous arrests were made by deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. On Saturday, 02/09/2013 at approximately 8:45 p.m. deputies from the Special Assignment Team (SAT) were conducting a patrol check at a residence located on the 24100 block of Pine Street as requested by the property owner. SAT deputies contacted Daniel Ramirez, a 38 year-old male from Newhall during their patrol check. During an investigation deputies recovered eight individual plastic bindles each containing methamphetamine. This is a substantial arrest due to the fact Mr. Ramirez has been known to associate with local gang members. This incident is still under investigation as to the relationship between the local gang and this measurable amount of narcotics. Mr. Ramirez was arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station for possession of a controlled substance for sale and for an outstanding arrest warrant (ref- 01932). It is the goal of all deputies assigned to Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station to continue to focus on gang and drug enforcement efforts.

Please remember, do not leave valuable items in plain sight when you park and lock your vehicle. Take the time to remove valuable items from your vehicle, or place the items in the trunk.
