CougarNews.com | Dorner carjack victim Ranger of COC's Field Study Program

Dorner carjack victim Rick Heltebrake, Ranger for Camp Taquitz location of COC’s field study program, says it was Dorner who came up to him with a gun Tuesday.

“I have no doubt it was Dorner. As I got out of the door –of the truck– we were close enough to slap hands.” Heltebrake said to Fox 11 news Wednesday.

Heltebrake reported to KTLA that a man approached his truck pulled out a weapon and told him to get his dog and walk down the road. Heltebrake also reported that just minutes after that incident he hear a multitude of gunshots.

“I was happy that he let me go and had me take my dog,” Rick Heltebrake told Savannah Guthrie on TODAY Wednesday.

Late Tuesday night San Bernadino Sheriffs officials reported that a charred body was found in the cabin that Dorner was allegedly holed up in.

Forensic tests will be required to positively identify the charred human remains as Dorners.
