Zone 5-Valencia reported thirty five Part-1 Crimes during the past week, the highest this year. The criminal incidents included a grand theft auto, robbery, residential/vehicle burglaries, and shoplifting from local businesses.

A grand theft auto occurred on the 25000 block of Via Jacara on Sunday morning. The vehicle stolen was a 2012 Honda Civic, which was parked in the driveway and taken without the owner’s consent. A suspect has been identified and Detectives assigned to the Santa Clarita Station are currently investigating this case.

A robbery occurred on Wiley canyon and Via Macarena on Sunday afternoon. The victim was attempting to sell an electric guitar to the suspect. The suspect pulled out a knife and fled on foot with the guitar. The guitar was recovered at a local pawn shop. An investigation was conducted and a suspect was arrested two days later.

There were eight residential burglaries that occurred in varies areas of Valencia. Most of the burglaries occurred during the early morning hours of the week. Areas affected were the 23500 block of Lyons Avenue, 24100 block of Newhall Avenue, 24900 block of Magic Mountain Parkway, 23900 block of Capistrano Court, and 23700 Del Monte. Entries/exits were made through unlocked side doors of garages and unlocked sliding glass doors. Items stolen were jewelry, tools, airsoft pistols and a bicycle. Once again, lock and secure all doors and windows in your home, including the garage area.

Six vehicle burglaries, all work trucks, occurred between the early morning hours of 5:00 pm – 7:00 am. Areas affected were the 24800 block of Avenue Rockefeller and 25100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. The items stolen were leaf blowers, power tools and gas cards which were visible from outside of the vehicles.

Entries/exits were made by smashing passenger windows and from prying tool boxes located in the rear of the trucks.

Do not become a victim. Please do not leave valuables unattended or visible in your vehicles. Secure items in locked trunks or take personal belongings with you when you exit your vehicle. If possible, park in well-lit areas.
