A 72-year-old man was killed Wednesday evening while crossing the street in front of the Orchard Arms apartments, a county-maintained senior housing complex on Wiley Canyon Road.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was struck by a white minivan. He was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The collision occurred at about 6:10 p.m. Westbound lanes of Wiley were closed at the Orchard Village Road intersection.
A statement from Detective Travis Kelly of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to call Detective Jeffery Maag at 661-255-1121.
