Knight Displays SCV Artist's Vasquez Rocks Work at Capitol Office

[Sen. Knight] – Sen. Steve Knight, R-Antelope Valley, has the unique opportunity of showcasing the work of artist, sculptor and painter, Laura Wambsgans for the 2013-2014 “California Contemporary Art Collection” exhibit.  The work is displayed in the Maddy Lounge, a conference room directly off of the Senate Floor Chamber.

Wambsgans has earned several accolades and awards for her work throughout the years, and notes that nature is a constant source of her inspiration.  The work that is on display is titled “Sunset at Vasquez Rocks”, the medium an oil on canvas.  The rock formation depicted is located in Santa Clarita.

“I am delighted and honored to be considered and included in such a prestigious event by Senator Steve Knight,” said artist Laura Wambsgans.  “His desire to highlight Vasquez Rocks, an iconic California location full of strange rock formations and rich history dovetailed beautifully with my days spent painting on location within the park.  I am very thankful for the opportunity to exhibit my artwork in the state capitol building and look forward to visiting the exhibit.”

“It is very exciting to see a local artist’s work here in Sacramento,” said Senator Knight.  “Ms. Wambsgans work is magnificent and I’m very proud to promote the talent that we have in our community.”
